| What's the story
In 2008, singer and composer Luca Solbiati (ex front-man of Italian rock band Zeropositivo) started writing new songs for his first international album, inspired by the idea of associating every song to a different movie atmosphere: "I built different stories in my mind, and I then imagined to walk in the shoes of the main characters from these stories, telling about them through new songs".
With Arno Engelhardt, keyboard player and music producer from Holland, Luca gave birth to theFilmakers and entered GravelandStudio near Amsterdam to record ChemicalLoveCrush. 12 songs with a rock soul ranging from classical pop-rock ballades to alternative electronic rock, born as soundtracks of non existing films.
In 2009, the band joined a team of film-makers based across Europe (Amsterdam, Milan, Vienna, Krakow, Paris and London) to produce short movies, music videos, original soundtracks and new songs, as part of project music4afilm. This gave birth to "LITTLE WORLD", shot in Vienna, which features an entirely original soundtrack, three new songs and a music video inspired to the movie ("A WONDERFUL DAY"), and "URKA BURKA" shot in Genoa, where Luca took the male lead for the first time.
In 2009, sci-fi visionary directors Fabio & Fabio ("E:D:E:N", "The Silver Rope", "AfterVille") directed "TAKEN" which made it to the Top20 of the Babelgum Music Awards among the best Indie European Music Videos of the year. "TAKEN" was then invited by Espino Film Festival in Portugal and In The Palace Film Festival in Bulgaria nominated for best music video.
In 2010, theFilmakers album was released on iTunes and new videos were made. "LITTLE WORLD" was nominated at Giffoni Film Festival in Italy, Valley Film Fest in Los Angeles and Kohln Unlimited in Germany, and selected to represent Austria by the Eurochannel 2011 Short Film Contest while "URKA BURKA" was nominated for Best Italian Production at Milan International Film Festival, Tabor Film Festival in Croatia and the prestigious Mexican Film Festival of Guanajuato.
In 2011, inspired by the short movie in which the song features as title track, Fabio & Fabio directed another video for theFilmakers: "MYSHOES", first official single which aired on Virgin Radio after debuting on Rolling Stone Magazine in April followed by Italian Deejay TV and MTV New Generation. theFilmakers are now working to release a new EP before the end of year while "MYSHOES" keeps travelling at international film festivals and will prémière across the ocean this summer in one of the world's most important fantasy film festivals of the world.
Welcome to theFilmakers experience: stay tuned to discover what will come next...
